This workshop is designed to provide an introduction to teletherapy. Participants will gain knowledge of the legal and ethical implications of teletherapy, understand the licensure and certification required for teletherapy, and resources to comply with HIPAA, FERPA, and COPPA regulations.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify two key telehealth resources for ethical practice.
  • Identify practices to ensure HIPAA and FERPA compliance.
  • Recall and identify licensure and certification requirements relevant to telepractice

Agenda

0-5 minutes: Introduction
5-15 minutes: HIPAA, FERPA, COPPA
15-25 minutes: Considerations for Secure Sessions
25-40 minutes: Licensing and Credentialing
40-55 minutes: Ethical Practices
55-60 minutes: Q&A

Time for Post-Test and Workshop Evaluation

Course Completion Requirements

In order to receive a certificate of attendance and qualify for ASHA CEUs or NASP CEUs (if applicable), learners must meet the following requirements within 24 hours of the course ending:

  • Attend the course in its entirety as recorded by Zoom attendance records.
  • Complete the post-course survey and evaluation.
  • Complete a 10-question multiple choice test and score 80% with retake opportunities.
