CEC President-Elect, Mary Lynn Boscardin, to Give Presentation on Women & Leadership in Special Education

Lehi, UT, May 24, 2018 –(PR.com)– Throughout the history of special education, a vast number of women have courageously assumed the pioneering and leading roles that helped shape it into what it is today. Often these women had to fight for change against strong opposition, without support and scarcely any recognition. Nevertheless, because of these women, millions upon millions of children’s lives have been made better. Still today, many of these challenges remain with women & leadership in special education.

On Thursday, June 7 at 1 pm (EST), eLuma Online Therapy will present a very special webinar: Insights from Women Leaders in Special Education — featuring Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) President-elect, Mary Lynn Boscardin, Ph.D., CCC-SLP, and Kerry Weir, Ph.D. In their presentation, they will discuss their research and insights on women & leadership in special education. Specifically, they will address ideas that can help all school leaders better understand the benefit of collaborative-relational leadership when addressing many of the challenges associated with special education.

The webinar will focus on the experiences of eight female special education administrators and the five themes that emerged from in-depth phenomenological interviews. Based on these themes, a new and dynamic collaborative-relational model has been developed and will be discussed with particular attention given to how women’s leadership experiences parallels the foundations all need to be effective leaders of special education.

Jeremy Glauser, eLuma Online Therapy’s founder and president offered, “We are so excited to host these exemplary women and give them a platform so they can share their valuable ideas and knowledge with a wider audience. This will be a special event and we hope all interested educators can attend.” The webinar is free to everyone, but there are only limited spaces and it will likely sell out.
