Online therapy keeps getting better!
Exactly six years ago, Jeremy Glauser founded Virtual Speech Therapy (VST). At the time, he saw an opportunity to help solve a growing speech therapist shortage in special education. But he didn’t just want to create a stop-gap solution, he wanted to help make speech therapy better using innovative processes, cutting-edge technologies and a higher standard of dependability. And so VST became one of the early online therapy (teletherapy) for related services providers.
Following this formula, Glauser built the company. VST started by serving a handful of schools, but this number quickly increased with the success of each passing year. As the company grew, it continued to refine the processes and technology to make online therapy better. It also saw other opportunities and expanded its scope of services to include occupational therapy (OT), counseling, psychology, social work and behavior intervention. The number of students VST served swelled to almost 4,000 across 27 states.
As VST and its online therapy services evolved, so did it’s mission, which was articulated in its updated mission statement: We endeavor to fundamentally transform how therapy services in special education are delivered by providing innovative technologies and high-quality therapy services at the greatest possible value. In so doing, VST also changed its name to eLuma believing that this name better reflected its values, mission and identity.
Today, eLuma is now six years old, but it is just getting started. The challenges and problems in special education are not going away, and if anything, are getting worse. And with this, eLuma sees an opportunity to continue in its quest to make online therapy better so it can make a difference in the lives of all of the people it serves!
