CASE: A True Leader in Special Education

CASE: A True Leader in Special Education

There is a saying in special education that “it’s all about the students.” But who is taking care of the people taking care of the students? The folks working in special education have some of the hardest and most heart-wrenching jobs in all of education. It is a labor of love, but with a lack of funding, resources and support — it is one that can be taxing, stressful, and isolating. And they need as much support as they can get.

Over the last few years, eLuma has had the privilege of getting to know the good people at the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE). One of the things that we’ve been most impressed by is not only their commitment to helping the students, but also their support and development of the people that are doing the work towards this goal. The simple recognition that you cannot have one without the other is critical to the mission of CASE. Just as important, you can only be as strong as your leadership.

Phyllis Wolfram, the current President of CASE  added, “I believe that it is important for all educators and especially administrators who are responsible for coordinating and implementing programs for students with disabilities to be a part of a professional organization. So many benefits are provided to individuals in order to do the hard job, to do the tough things that they have to do every day — with teachers, with parents, with students — and being a part of a professional organization can bring them all the needed tools and resources — just multiple, multiple benefits from being a part of a professional organization.”

Just a few of the many reasons why you should join CASE:

  • add to your expertise.
  • increase your professional development.
  • get the resources you need at affordable prices.
  • make a difference with policy makers.
  • expand your professional network.
  • keep up to date on current trends and research.
  • improve your leadership development and skills.
  • collaborate with like-minded individuals.

We absolutely support the Council of Administrators of Special Education, its leaders and mission. We encourage you to take a look at this short video about CASE and considering joining or supporting their agenda.
