I am thrilled to join the eLuma team as CEO! During my first three weeks, I have already met more than half of our full-time employees in person (I have met the rest via Zoom), and I look forward to meeting virtually with our network of clinicians on Friday.
Connecting eLuma’s extended family of dedicated clinicians with students throughout the country is our reason for existing, and we are so grateful for the valuable work they do.
Helping every student succeed
The mission of eLuma–to help all students achieve their potential–is very personal to me. This fall, I will enter my 30th year working with preK-12 educators and families to leverage technology as a means of providing equitable opportunity for all learners. As a parent of four, three of whom needed specialized support for autism, speech and language, ADHD, or mental health, I know what it is like to desperately seek and ultimately access services for issues that, left untreated, can undermine the academic success, confidence, and happiness of children.
My wife and I found the support we needed for our kids via the healthcare system, and we did our best to loop in teachers and counselors at school to advocate for our kids’ needs. For many children and families, getting support primarily via the school system is the best or only option. No matter where support is provided, eLuma aims to ensure that no child in need goes without, and in all cases, we want to remove obstacles to the seamless and effective interaction of educators, parents, clinicians, and service providers on behalf of students. If we are doing our part at eLuma, the complexities of compliance, coordination, communication, and capacity for these stakeholders should melt away.
Building brighter futures, together
I joined eLuma because of its reputation for putting people first, both internally and externally. I am committed to the vision and culture aspirations of founder Jeremy Glauser, who remains our Board Chair and my personal sounding board as we strive to maximize the reach and impact of our work. I am also grateful for the support of Leeds Equity Partners, who invest significant time and resources in companies like ours that are trying to make a positive difference in the world.
In my new role at eLuma, I am excited to hear and learn from our employees, clinicians, and school customers. I am humbled by the opportunity to be part of this collaborative effort, and I promise to lead by identifying and doing the next right thing every day to help us thrive together in this important work.
